Myths

“Magnesium bisglycinate is the best form of magnesium for sleep.”

Facts

Current evidence does not show that magnesium bisglycinate is better for sleep than other forms of magnesium.

Magnesium bisglycinate may have a modest positive effect on certain sleep parameters. [1] However, current evidence does not establish whether this effect is specifically attributable to magnesium, glycine, or their combination. Positive effects on some sleep parameters have also been observed with magnesium supplementation without glycine. [2] Direct clinical comparisons with magnesium citrate or other forms of magnesium are lacking, so it cannot currently be concluded that magnesium bisglycinate is more suitable for sleep.
